If you have 4/4 parts, you have all of your fourths. If you have 8 fourths, you have a total of 2 wholes!
Fractions on a number line
If the denominator is provided, that will tell you how many total pieces you have. If it is not provided, count the spaces between the stops or points on the number line. The number of spaces between will tell you what the denominator is. The numerator tells you how many parts of the whole you have. Once you have the total number of parts, simply count up the sections to find the numerator. If you have 4/4 you have a whole!
